Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone mass and structural deterioration of bone tissue. Today in the United States, 10 million people already have osteoporosis and almost 34 million more have low bone mass. Low bone mineral density is a good predictor of future bone fractures. Almost 1.5 million people suffer an osteoporosis-related fracture each year. In this program, we explore the various diagnostic-imaging exams that can be used for screening, diagnosis, and monitoring of osteoporosis.
