Overview

By the end of this program, the viewer should be able to: 

  • Discuss extracranial cerebrovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. 
  • Explain the common signs, symptoms, and etiology of cerebrovascular disease. 
  • Identify normal spectral waveforms of the extracranial cerebrovascular vessels.
  • Recognize the common pitfalls encountered during an extracranial cerebrovascular examination. 
  • Describe the standard protocol for carotid duplex vascular imaging as defined in the "Society for Vascular Ultrasound Professional Performance Guidelines." 
  • Identify vascular physical principles and instrumentation registry requirements as defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS).
