CARESCAPE monitor is based on Linux operation system, which can offer a very flexible and high speed navigation. By integrating an exceptional menu with less navigation the clinician can directly access the information he needs. Leveraging swipe touchscreen technology used in the latest consumer devices, we’ve designed a more human-centered user interface.

Clear and configurable visualization of real time information
By replacing menus with views, the caregiver will be able to choose which real time information he wants to monitor on the screen. CARESCAPE solution provides a clear and immediate visualization of relevant alarms, and priority where and how you want them in order to assess the patient situation at a glance everywhere.

GE proprietary parameters are innovated and developed together with clinicians with an aim at ensuring clinically relevant patient data and alarms. GE EK-Pro arrhythmia algorithm uses four simultaneous ECG leads for analysis to help optimize correct event detection and minimize false alarms.

Easy automatic configuration of alarm limit
CARESCAPE Modular Monitors provide enhanced alarm management with wide alarm configurability and customization possibilities, where “Alarm limits”, “Alarm priorities” from Low/Med/High to “Alarm Escalation” can be saved in work flow specific and patient specific profiles.  

Bed to bed viewing
This Auto View on Alarm feature allows you to keep an eye on the other beds while continuing the care of the patient. It is configurable by sub-units and it provides an automatic notification, priority based, when a remote patient goes into distress.

Unite View cockpit
Unite View is a centralized view on the alarms condition in a dedicated screen out of the room of the patient . It helps reduce alarm fatigue and provides a more healing patient environment.

The CARESCAPETM solutions have an event-centric historical data structure that provide easy access to detailed patient data at any point in time. Interactive touchscreen slider controls of the master timeline allows selection of a time or an event that can be expanded with the touch of a button to reveal important patient information. Graphical, numerical trends, alarms and ventilation history that could enable a better understanding of the past.

CARESCAPE monitors provide up to 72 hours of patient trends, events history and snapshots.

Improve nutrition monitoring

sharing his experience on how and when to use indirect calorimetry.

Clinical studies demonstrated that patients in the ICU receive only 59% of the prescribed nutrition plan. Greater nutritional intake received during the first week in the ICU were associated with longer survival time and faster physical recovery up to 3 months in critically ill patients requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation; studies have shown nutrition monitoring is critical in improving patient outcomes.

With the GE CARESCAPE™ Respiratory Module, integrated in the GE CARESCAPE ventilator and CARESCAPE patient monitors, clinicians are able to measure patient’s energy expenditure through indirect calorimetry. The measurement of indirect calorimetry is done by the GE gas module CRM through patient gas exchange and not estimated through calculation, so clinicians can tailor the nutrition plan to meet the patient’s requirements and optimize nutrition monitoring.

Apply a lung protection strategy

Due to lung non-homogeneity, a tailored and comprehensive lung protection strategy can help ensure the different zones receive the treatment they need. GE provides an integrative approach dedicated to protect the lungs throughout acute respiratory failure phase and beyond.

CARESCAPE R860 is an intuitive ICU ventilator that offers a comprehensive solution for Lung Protection strategy by simplifying the use of exceptional advanced tools. The Lung Protection tools calculate FRC, providing the clinician with data to assess patient’s lung volume, check potential recruitability and titrate the appropriate PEEP.

The GE Recruitability app describes the concept to determine whether a patient is a responder or not responder to PEEP changes using End Expiratory Lung Volume (EELV) as parameter guide. The GE Recruitability app also includes an educational video as concept explanation and a numerical example tool, the Recruitmeter, to simulate clinical cases.



Hemodynamic management

GE patient monitors provide continuous cardiac output (CCO) measurement based on pulse contour calculation by integrating the PICCO technology.

In addition to continuous cardiac output monitoring, number of other hemodynamic parameters, such as extravascular lung water or stroke volume variation, can be monitored with the E-PiCCO module available on CARESCAPE monitors, providing the clinicians with less invasive hemodynamic monitoring that may help in:

  • Managing fluid therapy
  • Assessing volume status
  • Assessing cardiac contractility

Complete cardiology monitoring


The CARESCAPE Monitor provides a continuous ST-segment monitoring of up to 12 leads and ST trend views enabling you to detect changes almost instantly and helping you to diagnose the root cause of chest pain sooner and begin an effective course of treatment immediately.

The accurate diagnostic data helps clinicians with the goal to reduce the risk of permanent organ damage and sudden death.

The CARESCAPE Central Station ST Review feature enables continuous ST-segment monitoring by obtaining MarquetteTM 12SL records from supported bedsides every minute for up to the length of the full disclosure license (up to six days). ST-segment records are also available for review post-discharge.

Clinicians surveyed by GE strongly agreed that the ability to access and use ST Review at the central station may help improve their clinical decisions and/or treatment effectiveness.
